You may be more used to the Elder Futhark. The Germanic tribes stopped using these runes prior to the Viking age, and all our information for these runes (and the sounds used) has been reconstructed.

In the Viking era the Younger Futhark was used. We have lots of sources about the wisdom of these runes, including the rune poems and the rune charms in the Havamal.

My resources are all based on the Younger futhark, and the Old Norse sounds for the runes (except 'kaun' or 'Kraft' where I chose to use a more modern version of the sound.)

  • Click on any of the deity names to find out more.

  • I have an introduction to the runes you can explore here.

  • I have a page, including recorded chants, about seidr here.
