Stances

The stances- as a focused physical mediation- are the foundation of Stav. In time most people develop a "style" and in video's I am sharing you can see the difference between Ivar, Graham, and me- and any other clips I can add with time.

Traditionally you do them twice, once right side leading (right hand above/right leg up) once left side leading. I will add more resources here in time. I like to start with Frey and end with Ull, but you could start with Heimdall or Tyr.

The keys are:

  • Be mindful- and match breath with movement.

  • If need be make it fit your mobility, whether that is seated, holding on to a chair, or making a token movement with intent.

  • It is the focused intent, movements matched with breath, that make this a spiritual exercise- not whether you can stand on one leg for a full long breath.
