In 1999 I moved to Orkney to learn Stav from Shaun Brassfield-Thorpe. It might have seemed random to some at the time, but the way he talked about Stav I knew I wanted to learn, and from him. I left a home, career, and marriage- and it remains one of the best decisions I ever made.

This my page honouring the wisdom of Stav, celebrating the wisdom of both the galder (logical, 'masculine') and the seidr (intutive ,'feminine')

Stav, why a woman's voice is important.

Stav is a wisdom tradition including martial, healing, and crafts, based on the Younger Futhark runes. It is described as a 'family tradition.'

In the pantheon Stav works with there are 8 Goddesses, and 2 deities that are gender fluid. The balance between masculine and feminine is woven through Stav, and I can assure you the Goddesses are not meek, mild, or subservient in any way at all.

So I am here to celebrate the feminine wisdom within Stav that so often gets overlooked.

The web image is important in Stav. it is used as a diagram to understand the lines in the martial training, crafts, shamanic work, and as an esoteric exercise in understanding- anything.

The lines can be seen as galder (logical, 'masculine'), and the spaces as seidr (intuitive ,'feminine').

No spaces- no structure. Which is why I am determined to share more publicly about my work with Stav, because I care deeply about my tradition.

I have been teaching elements of Stav for over ten years now, and have over twenty blogs, recorded journeys, and free information on all the Younger Futhark runes. I have a booklet (also available on Amazon) and two rune decks designed and printed by me, available from my shop.
