Tarot- the suit of Wands

Ace  wands  -

Just look at the beautiful landscape- we have a river, dwelling place, trees. This is the seed of an idea with great potential. Watch out with this card-it is the fire burning bright, sometimes I imagine it literally reaching out of the card to bash you on the head if you don’t follow through.

  • Take a chance, jump at something new.

  • Find a little peace and allow yourself to “know” what you must  do.

  • Anger issues can be present, a warning is suggested.

  • Optimism, Bursting with energy, new ideas, inspiration.

  • Go for IT!

2 Wands –

Wands to need to be planted in the ground to grow- or at least be headed to the ground (note the ace & 8). Notice the two wands in this card- one is bolted to the wall, the other held on top of the balustrade. He doesn’t trust the  opportunity he feels drawn to take. He waits hoping for guarantees that never come in life.

  • You need to make a choice, commit to a decision.  Step out of your comfort zone today and just get on with it.

  • Relax and trust, sometimes things take a while to happen.

  • Anxious anticipation of success. A positive, if anxious, card.

  • Make a decision, commit, then go for it!

3 Wands -

One of the very few minor arcana with out a negative side. Notice his confident, relaxed stance  (and all the wands are grounded) as he watches his ships sailing off. I like to imagine him as the owner of those ships- sailing off to trade. He knows they will be successful because he has built good ships, employed experienced sailors, and made sure they have good maps.

  • Pause and appreciate just how much you have achieved- through hard work & careful planning

  • Things will come together- have hope.

  • Things are going well “hopeful anticipation”

  • Have confidence in yourself. Be positive, be Bold!

4 Wands –

The only certainly in life is uncertainty, which is why when there is a reason to celebrate, I really urge you to enjoy the moment and celebrate (even the smallest of things). Notice the bridge? It is only seen once more in this deck- in the 5 of cups, card of sorrow and grief. Good times come and good times go. Remember to enjoy the good times!

  • This is a card of celebration. Whether it is small and more to cheer you up, or a big step forward. Celebration is good for the mindset.

  • Don’t over indulge or descend into laziness…

  • Happy home, joy, celebration and trust.

  • Take the time to enjoy life, celebrate the good things.

5 Wands –

it is too easy to presume these people are fighting in some way. Certainly if feels muddled, but if you look closely at the way they are holding the wands they do not seem to have a fighting stance. Rather this looks more like people trying to construct or bring something together, which links to a photograph thought to be the inspiration for this card.

  • Things seem a little muddled- Sort out your desk, write a list. Get everything in order to allow you to focus.

  • Don’t get drawn into petty arguments.

  • Debate, discussion, competition and wrangling..

  • See the opportunities in the challenges.

6 wands –

Look carefully at the horse. Compared to the knights, or death, the horse seems fake to me. And the cloth appears to cover his legs. I always wonder with this card what is hidden beneath the horse? Is he riding on the success of other people’s hard work?

  • Confidence is key with this card. Walk tall & fake that confidence for today.

  • Your goal may be important- but that does not justify “any means”

  • Victory and success!

  • When you act with confidence- you are a magnet for success

7 wands –

I can’t hide it, I love this card! (If you wonder what a fighting stance looks like after the 5 of wands, this is it!) If you look carefully he is wearing one shoe, and one boot. A clear reference to Procutio in the Taming of the Shrew. This is a stubborn, independently minded individual (think Phoebe in friends)

  • Just be yourself- nothing else is needed. Don’t allow yourself to be distracted by what other people think.

  • You must be decisive; don’t procrastinate.

  • Be your own, unique self. Follow your instinct and you’ll be great.

8 wands -

9 is the end of the cycle, it is the last single digit number. this is a card of things moving fast towards a conclusions. The landscape and feel of the card reminds me of the ace of wands- endings and beginnings. This is the only minor arcana with out a person being shown (even the aces have that God like hand) which is why I often say “its out of your hands now”

  • Lots going on- don’t try to micro manage, but ensure everything is running smoothly

  • Stay focused, there’s a lot happening- keep an eye on the details.

  • Synchronicity- it’s out of your hands.

  • Things are moving quickly- trust your instincts, they are going well

9 wands -

I see great strength in this card, and I love the way he is leaning on his wand. I do sense paranoia in this card, especially the way he is half looking over his shoulder. It reminds me of the two of wands. This is a “separation card” there appears to be a stage upon which he is stood separating him from the background. I often feel this can suggest there is projection going on. As if he is projecting his inner turmoil onto the outer world.

  • A card of rest and preparation. Try an get ahead of yourself, but do take time to rest and recharge your batteries.

  • Don’t keep expecting the worst to happen.

  • A card of healing, taking a break and being well prepared.

  • Make sure you take a break, look after yourself.

10 wands -

Lets be honest it’s a weird way to carry those wands. He is unable to see the way in front of him. Sometimes the card is that simple. Overworking to distract you from your worries.

  • Simply too much!  Stop, organise a to do list, delegate, ask for help.

  • Too much (this could also be procrastination through being busy- cleaning the kitchen to avoid doing tax returns!)

  • Put something down! Having a lot to do –you can maintain this for a while.

  • You have a busy period ahead, and the strength to cope.

Testimonials for my Shaman Healing

I was lucky enough to work with Siobhan Curham (published author) first using tarot & then for a shaman healing session. You may recognise me in her recent book "Something more- A spiritual Misfit's search for meaning"

"The shaman in the caravan was a no-nonsense woman with short, dark blonde hair and glasses....The shaman began drumming..and drumming. I'm not sure how long it went on for, I drifted into a deep state of relaxation, then finally she told me to come and join her sitting at the table.

I'm now going to tell you want I saw on my journey she said..."

I am very grateful to Siobhan to have chosen to share her experiences- they always belong to the client, and are never mine to share. She explains the process of a soul retrieval from the view of a client- and how it helped her move on in her personal journey.

"I returned home feeling light and happy.

A couple of hours later-while I was cleaning the dishes, bizarrely- a picture of the wild carefree person I could have been popped into my head and I burst into tears. Unlike the tears I shed the night before my parents split up, these tears felt cleansing. They were the kind of tears you shed when greeting a long-lost, much loved friend. "

Thank you Maddy, after over a year of trying to get to the bottom of my throat issues (including numerous modern medicines and alternative therapies), you managed to get to the root cause and clear it in one session!

I love how your healing is direct yet gentle but most importantly it's effective! You have a wonderful gift and I'm so glad you're sharing it with the world.

Working with Maddy has been and continues to be a very special and sacred experience for me. Maddy's intuitive wisdom speaks from an ancient knowing source and her many years of practice and dedication to her own self work provide the safe and professional container. I feel held, heard and supported when we journey into the deep recesses of my shadow and beyond into the other parts of my psyche and indeed into other unworldly realms. I am profoundly changed through this work, more alive and more awake and more compassionate towards myself and others. It is an integral part of my inner work and I highly recommend Maddy as a grounded, empathic and secure guide.

Thank you so much for my session yesterday. I spoke my mind twice yesterday without even thinking about it, or offending anyone! And this morning I walked straight down the stairs without a thought of painful knees.

I feel refreshed and positive thanks to your healing hands.

I will be touch with regard to a soul retrieval session and would definitely like to try and attend your Wednesday evening sessions.

Thank you again Heidi x

My Shamanic Healing adventure

"I have to admit that I was not at all sure what to expect from a Shamanic Healing,  and as I had no preconceived ideas I was open to whatever was to happen.

Maddy made me very welcome and asked what I felt I needed help with.  I hadn’t really thought that through, but I did have a dodgy knee, which I didn’t mention, and I do need to loose some weight, which is pretty obvious, so told Maddy that looking at any issues to do with weight loss blocks would be a good idea.

First she scanned my body for any blocks/physic hooks, and found blocks around my knees, which she then removed. I immediately noticed a change in the pain level in my knees joints, brilliant. A great start. While Maddy drummed and guided me on a meditation, I had a really odd tight , but not unpleasant or painful, feeling in my stomach.  As the session continued it faded away.

At the end of the session I felt uplifted and energised. I had a fresh insight as to ways forward  with my healthy eating. Most importantly I felt confident something had shifted and changed. In the couple of weeks after the session I have found it easier to make better choices about amounts of foods to eat and have really benefitted from the new insights I gained in the session. I would thoroughly recommend Maddy’s Healing sessions to anyone looking to understand themselves better."
